- 2 qt. fish broth (how to make fish broth)
- 1 lb. whitefish (catfish is commonly used in Burma)
- 2 Tbsp. coconut oil (find a good source of coconut oil here)
- 1 onion (large, or 2 small-medium white onions)
- 6 garlic cloves
- 4 inches ginger (piece of)
- 1 stalk lemongrass (top half, the thinner, green part removed, bottom half cut into large chunks)
- 2 tsp. turmeric
- 2 tsp. chili powder (roasted)
- 1/2 cup chickpea (also called “fava” flour, find a good source of chickpea flour here)
- rice noodles (cooked according to package directions)
- fish sauce (see my favorite brand of fish sauce here)
- lime wedge
- fresh cilantro (chopped)
- fried onions (optional)
- soft-boiled eggs (or Hard, optional)
- 1 pinch chili powder (optional)
