- 2 1/2 cups Crisco (or white vegetable shortening)
- 3/4 cup granulated white sugar
- 1/2 tsp. table salt
- 2 Tbsp. meringue powder (***add 1 additional tbsp for slight crusting)
- 1/2 cup boiling water (less 2 tbsp)
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract (or flavor of your choice * Be sure to use a CLEAR extract if you want the frosting to stay white)
