- 2 1/2 cups water (or add as required)
- 1 tsp. curry leaves (chopped, or 5 to 6 chopped curry leaves)
- 5 shallots (sliced or 1 small onion, chopped or 1/4 cup sliced shallots or chopped onions)
- 1/2 tsp. ginger (finely chopped, you can also add 1 tsp ginger if you want)
- 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
- 1/2 tsp. jeera (cumin)
- 1 tsp. lime juice
- salt (as required)
