Moderatly sweet treat that is open to additions or modifications for the filling. This is a Depression Era pie for lean times when fruit and milk were difficult to afford and when flour, sugar, butter, and even coffee were rationed and spices were unaffordable. If milk was affordable (it still had the cream in it back then), you could substitute milk or cream for the water making sugar cream pie. This is a recipe to save for lean times.

Im thinking you would have to be DEPRESSED, OPPRESSED, and SUPPRESSED to eat this.....NEGATIVE! Taste like water, butter, sugar, and vanilla...lol

Have to admit this came out much tastier than I thought it would. Shared it around at work and got multiple comments saying its like pecan pie without the pecans. Could also be a good starting point that you could play around with by adding an additional ingredient or two to.
