Like another reviewer I mixed vegetable and chicken broth because it’s what I had on hand I had to use my immersion blender to break up the split peas. I also used yellow split peas as I didn’t have green. I added ground roasted cumin, saffron powder and pepper flakes to add a slightly spicy flavor. My book club loved it and asked for seconds.

This soup is great. Great flavors. I added about 4-5 bay leaves and I forgot to get the twigs of thyme, so just used a full teaspoon of thyme from the spice rack. Also, based on the other reviewer’s comment on the peas coming out hard after the elapsed time, I set the cooker to high for 4.25 hours. Perfect. The home smelled amazing while it cooked

Flavor is good. I've made this twice and both times have problems with the peas not being soft. I even soaked them the second time: not sure why the issue but the flavor is excellent!
