  • 3 portobello mushroom caps (about 20 oz. total, cleaned and sliced into thin strips)
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegan Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional, but highly recommended)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 inches sandwich rolls (or baguette sections sliced open)

    Wow! Great dish and great flavor. Dont be afraid to add some extra onions and toast the buns if you can, it add some texture and crunch to the sandwich

    This is a really good sandwich. My husband loved it. We had it with sweet potato fries. I used hickory liquid smoke which gave it a nice flavor. Thanks for all of the tips to cut the mushrooms very thin. We will definitely have this again.

    Mostly good, but the sauce was a little sweet I think I’ll try Bragg’s instead of the vegan Worcestershire. Other than that it was tasty!

    I have made this sandwich twice and absolutely love it. On the bread I put horseradish aioli and spicey mustard. But other than that, no changes to the recipe. It's excellent.
