- 1 cup green lentils (dry, 193 g, do not use red lentils, too mushy)
- 1/2 tsp. fine sea salt
- 1/2 cup white onion (finely chopped, 80 g)
- 1 Tbsp. garlic (packed , minced fresh)
- 1/4 tsp. fine sea salt
- 1/4 cup water (this is ONLY for cooking the veggies in 1st)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (240g, below, separated, SEE NOTES BELOW)
- 1/2 cup cornmeal (medium grind coarse, It MUST be medium grind, not corn flour or regular fine cornmeal, otherwise it WILL BE DRY. I use this Bob's Red Mill. If you cannot find, order it off Amazon.)
- 3 Tbsp. ground flaxseed
- 1/2 tsp. spice (chipotle chili, gives a hefty kick of heat, so ONLY use 1/4 tsp if sensitive)
- 1/2 cup corn
- 1/2 cup tomato paste (120g, not sauce)
- 1/2 cup water (120g)
- 1/4 tsp. fine sea salt
- 1/2 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder (+ 1 teaspoon)
- 1 Tbsp. mustard (+ 1 teaspoon, yellow wet)
- 2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup (40g)
- 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar (dark, do not sub with another vinegar)
- 2 Tbsp. molasses (unsulphured regular)
- 2 tsp. liquid smoke
