- 1/2 cup cabbage (finely chopped)
- 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper (finely, shimla mirch or capsicum)
- 1/4 cup spring onion (finely chopped, scallion greens)
- 1/2 tsp. crushed black pepper (freshly, OR black pepper powder, kali mirch powder OR white pepper powder)
- 2 Tbsp. all purpose flour (maida)
- 2 Tbsp. cornflour (corn starch)
- 1/2 tsp. salt (OR add as per taste)
- oil (as required, for shallow or deep frying)
- 1 Tbsp. corn flour (known as corn starch outside india)
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. oil (toasted sesame oil or sunflower oil or any neutral tasting oil)
- 4 Tbsp. finely chopped onions (or chopped spring onion whites, scallion whites)
- 1 Tbsp. ginger (finely chopped, adrak)
- 1 Tbsp. finely chopped garlic (lahsun)
- 2 green chilies (finely chopped,, hari mirch)
- 1 Tbsp. chopped celery (finely, OPTIONAL)
- 1/2 Tbsp. soya sauce
- 1 Tbsp. tomato ketchup
- 3 tsp. chilli sauce
- 1 tsp. rice vinegar (or regular white vinegar or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 1/4 cups water (OR vegetable stock)
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper (powder OR freshly crushed black pepper, kali mirch powder OR white pepper powder)
- salt (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp. sugar (to taste OR add as required)
- 1 Tbsp. spring onions (greens, scallion greens for garnishing, optional)
