Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix flour, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. Set aside. Beat butter and sugars in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts, if desired.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons about 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
- For a spooky twist this Halloween, turn chocolate chips into spiders! Before baking, press a few extra chocolate chips into the top of each cookie. Remove hot baked cookies from the oven and let stand 2 to 3 minutes. Using a toothpick, draw 8 spider legs on each exposed chocolate chip by pulling the melted chocolate out into squiggly lines.

These take more time than listed to make. If you’re short on time this is not the recipe for you. I LOVE these cookies and everyone I make them for loves them too. Use your mixer for the butter and sugars and all other wet ingredients. Use your hands to mix in the flour. It will blend in a lot better.

These were very good! The cookies were full of chocolate and vanilla which was delicious! They do spread out a lot in the oven so be careful of that. You can try chilling them before you bake them so they spread out less. Overall these cookies were amazing!

Awesome! So good! Areas without chocolate tasted kind of odd, but I didn't have to worry about that because there was chocolate in almost every bite!

I've made these many many times now. My family really enjoys them. Makes a huge batch which is great. Super easy to make. Definitely make sure you chill the dough before making the cookies. If not they spread out.

I've never had a cooking disaster before, but that's what this was. First, prep time is listed as 15 minutes. Nope. Took me a full 30 to get things going. Next, it says total time of 23 minutes. Again, it took me longer than that to prep this and then another 20 to get my first batch out of the oven. In the end, I wasted 90 minutes on this.
If the time issue wasn't bad enough, there's the taste. Unless you bite into a section with chocolate in it, all you taste is flour. Obviously, 3 1/4 cups of flour is way too much. I definitely didn't taste any vanilla.
Finally, they don't spread all that much and ended up looking like half a meatball (half because they're flat on the bottom).
Save your time and money and just buy some cookies from the store.
