- 2 cups sugar (I used organic sugar which is a bit grainier and a natural color)
- 1 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 4 egg (room temperature)
- 2 1/4 cups buttermilk (or mixture of plain yogurt and milk)
- 24 strawberries
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- buttercream frosting (vanilla)
- strawberry sauce
- 1 cup unsalted butter ( sweet, softened)
- 3 cups confectioners sugar
- 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 cups strawberries ( fresh or frozen, thawed)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. lemon zest
- 2 tsp. lemon juice
