Description
Everyone needs a “very best” back-pocket chocolate chip cookie recipe, and this is it! These cookies are perfect, with buttery toffee-like flavor and bits of semi-sweet chocolate in every bite. Making larger bakery-style cookies ensures the edges are crisp while the middle stays soft, but traditional cookies bake up deliciously too, so take your pick. The recipe, which makes 32 traditional-size cookies or 18 XL bakery-size cookies, is a Yummly original created by Annalise Sandberg.
Ingredients
US|METRIC
32 SERVINGS
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate chips)

Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F with racks in upper and lower thirds of the oven. Line 2 sheet pans with parchment paper. (Note that baking 2 pans at a time and switching them halfway through baking saves time. Cookies bake the most evenly cooked 1 pan at a time in the center of the oven, but the recipe will take longer to make.)
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, using the paddle attachment, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar on medium-high speed until light and creamy, 3-4 minutes. Stop to scrape down the bowl as needed so mixture is uniform. Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla one at a time mixing on medium speed after each, and scraping down the bowl as needed.
- Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt and mix on low speed until almost combined. Add the chocolate chips and mix until incorporated (if desired, reserve some chocolate chips to add to the top of cookie dough rounds before baking for extra visual appeal).

It was a pretty tasty balance of baking soda/powder. I added white chocolate chips with the chocolate chips.

Really well. I added leftover Oreo crumbs and reduced the choc chip. I think the recipe makes a good base recipe for many types of cookies.

They came out lovely. Although I only used 1 cup of buttersweet chocolate chip's and my family felt that was a better sugar level.
