Easy and delicious. Next time I make it it, I will leave the chocolate chips out.It was too sweet with them.

nice texture; tried to lower the sugar but would've worked better with the reg amount; microwaved for 90 s, checked it, and microwaved for 20 more; used a pint mason jar and got more than expected (almost overflowed)

This was my first time to make a "mug cake." It smelled delicious, and the chocolate flavour met expectations. The cake was somewhat dry, but that may be due to overcooking.
Four considerations:
1. I followed the given microwave directions, but as always, microwave ovens vary. Mine dried out the cakes, rendering the top halves inedible. Next time, I think I will check after 30-45 seconds in the microwave, or possible cooking on a "low" rather than the "high" setting advised.
2. Vanilla extracts may vary as well. For me, the amount given in the recipe, 1/2 tsp., was far too much vanilla, competing with the chocolate flavour. Next time, I will try 1/8-1/4 tsp. vanilla extract.
3. As I suspected, the semisweet layer on the bottom tasted a little burnt, so it may be better to add them in a layer mid-cake or stir them into the batter.
4. Also, my cake buddy preferred milk chocolate to semisweet, so the chocolate flavour might be too rich/bitter for some people's taste.
Overall, a good recipe I am likely try again, with some adjustments.
