- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cut into cubes, COLD)
- 1 cup low fat buttermilk (or more)
- 2 Tbsp. chocolate syrup
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (mini-)
- milk (to brush on tops of shortcakes before baking)
- granulated sugar (to sprinkle on the shortcakes before baking)
