- 1/4 lb. chopped almonds
- 1 1/2 cups cherry brandy
- 2 cups dark rum
- 2 cups butter (or 1 lb)
- 2 cups granulated sugar (or 1 lb brown or)
- 10 large eggs
- 3 tsp. lime zest (grated)
- 2 tsp. mixed essence (PA Benjamin)
- 1 lb. flour (or 4 cups)
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup sugar (or more, burnt, browning)
- 1 cup rum (mix of, equal parts of, cherry brandy and sherry)
