Double the vanilla, double the sugar, and use whole eggs. These modifications make a perfect 5-star sugar cookie that isn't too sweet for icing but is enjoyable without it. I would recommend chilling the dough to make cut-outs easier and more kid friendly. The dough held its shape and browned nicely. Great snap.

Fantastic! I like them a lot, they're not quite as good as my Grandma's sugar cookies, but they're good as a faster version: no chilling the dough! woo!
Some people say they're dry, I can see what they mean, but that doesn't bother me at all, I think it's just a preference.
I added 1/2 tsp more of Vanilla extract instead of adding butter extract which I didn't have. 👍
I also didn't measure exactly 1/4 inch rolling them out I kinda just eyeballed it...I ended up baking them 5min - rotating pan - then 5min more instead of per instructions.
Super easy and fast!

So easy! Made these quick with my 4 year old niece. They weren’t too sweet (which I appreciate) and I suggest dividing the dough into 4 individual bowls and dying them to make “unicorn poo” and rainbow cookies.

I stumbled on this recipe by chance and I have used it more times than I can remember, even passing along this recipe to all family members who are in need of a right now, not a chill and use later, cut out cookie recipe. Having a child in kindergarten and being a room mom, has given me the opportunity to use this recipe for every holiday at my cookie decorating station. They are a hit every time!!
