- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup shortening (Very cold and cut in cubes)
- 1/2 cup butter (Very cold and cut in cubes)
- 6 Tbsp. ice water (approximately, enough to bring the dough together)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (lightly packed)
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/4 cup butter (melted)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup raisins (substituting, pecans, walnuts or chocolate chips also make good variations)

These were delicious! And easy to make. I made the firmer version and they were perfect! Love that there were options. Crust was great too!

I used frozen tart shells and they were delicious. All 3 of my kids loved them and my husband. So easy to make as well.

I made the recipe as outlined. I used a pastry cutter instead of a food processor and uses pecans for the filling. My yield was 15

The tarts are just as advertised. Easy to make and very delicious. I like them runny and didn't disappoint.

it turnout very well i added half a cup of real maple syrup to them as well. did

I have been on a quest to make the perfect butter tart, and this is it! My husband and I like them soft but not runny. I followed the directions to make them less runny (add an extra egg, increase brown sugar & decrease corn syrup) AND I baked them for longer, 17 minutes in total. Best ever!
