- 2 Tbsp. fish sauce (find my favorite Thai fish sauce here)

- 1 jalapeno (seeded, optional)
- 1 qt. fish broth
- 1/2 lb. shrimp (shelled)
- 1 stalk lemongrass (see directions below for how to prepare)
- 2 inches galangal (piece, sliced into rings)
- 4 kaffir lime leaves (ripped)
- 1 pkg. rice vermicelli noodles (find rice vermicelli noodles here)

- chilies (dried flakes or powder or freshly chopped)
