- 1 Tbsp. chili pepper (ground chipotle)

- 4 lb. beef chuck roast (trimmed of excess fat and cut into 1-1/2 inch cubes, see note below)
- 8 oz. bacon (cut into 1/4-inch pieces, see tip below)
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 yellow onions (small, cut into 1-inch chunks)
- 5 garlic cloves (chopped)
- 3 jalapeño chiles (cored, seeded and finely diced, see note)
- 4 cups low sodium beef broth
- 2 cups water (water, plus more for the chili paste and deglazing the pan)
- 1 1/4 cups lager beer
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes (canned)
- 1 Tbsp. molasses
- 2 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder (natural)

It was awful. Wasted all that time for some blah tasting stew. i dont understand how you can blend all these ingredients together and get something that taste like dirt.
