- 1/8 tsp. five spice powder
- 2 Tbsp. chinese rice wine
- 300 grams carrot (cut into chunks)
- 300 grams turnip (cut into chunks)

- 2 kilograms beef (spine bones)
- 1.2 kilograms beef shin
- 15 grams spices (each of the following, : sand ginger or san nai, fennel seeds, star anise, cinnamon and nutmeg)
- 2 Tbsp. light soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp. dark soy sauce
- 2 tsp. chicken (powder)
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. chinese rice wine
- 2 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
- 1 dash ground white pepper
- wide noodles (some dried flat)
- preserved vegetables (some)
- cooked green (leafy vegetables of your choice)
- spring onions (some chopped, to garnish, optional)
- garlic sauce (homemade or store-bought chilli-)
