- 1 lb. italian sausage (removed from their casings, I used Hot Italian Sausage)
- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 3 cups crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 6 oz. tomato paste
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 tsp. salt (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 2 tsp. dried basil
- 2 tsp. italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp. fennel seeds
- 1/8 tsp. red peppers (crushed, flakes, optional)
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 4 cups whole milk ricotta cheese (2 Ib.)
- 8 oz. mozzarella cheese (soft, torn into pieces, I used Bocconcini)
- 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
- 1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper (or to taste)
- Less than 1/16 tsp. cayenne (optional)
- 1/3 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- lasagna noodles (1 Ib., uncooked)
- 8 oz. mozzarella cheese (soft, torn into pieces)
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (freshly)
