- 1/2 cup honey (plus 4 tablespoons)
- 1/4 cup light soy sauce (plus 2 tablespoons, reduced sodium)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 Tbsp. hoisin sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp. Shaoxing wine
- 5 tsp. corn starch (for corn starch slurry thickener)
- 6 tsp. water (for corn starch slurry thickener)
- 2 stalks green onions (chopped)

This turned out magnificent; the entire family had seconds. The second voting and frying are key to success.
Sauce was amended: distilled vinegar instead of rice vinegar, grape juice instead of cooking wine, 1/3 cup honey, tbsp Demerara sugar, no hoisin sauce, 1/2 cup soy sauce.

This was way too sweet. It didn’t taste like dinner. It tasted more like dessert meat, which is weird. I would maybe make it again with less honey.

Delicious. Learnt a few things about making the beef really crispy - thank you for the tip. Sauce is delicious as well. Definitely make again
