- 1 orange bell pepper (diced)
- 1 red bell pepper (diced)
- 1 sweet onion (large, diced)
- 2 Tbsp. garlic (minced)
- 1 lb. italian sausage (hot ,casings removed)
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 6 oz. tomato paste (2 cans)
- 15 oz. tomato sauce (1 can)
- 32 oz. red kidney beans (dark, drained and rinsed)
- 22 oz. bourbon (1 can, Bush's Grillin' Beans, and Brown Sugar)
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes (For less heat, only add 1/4 tsp)
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper (for less heat, only add 1/8 tsp)
- sour cream
- grated cheese
- saltine crackers (I love to use the saltine cracker to scoop up the chili)

Overall a great recipe . If I would change one thing ,it would be to cut the brown sugar by a fourth or more, it was a little too sweet for chili dogs lol . But it stands firm on its own or with crackers/cornbread.
