- 1/2 cup bourbon (honey)
- 1 cup beef broth (unsalted)
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper (freshly ground)
- kosher salt (to taste)
- 1 Tbsp. cold water
- 1/2 tsp. arrowroot (or cornstarch)
- 1 tsp. butter (unsalted)
- pimento cheese (grits, serve with)
