I made this delicious torte many times exactly as instructed in the recipe and it’s always been amazing. It’s so light but so flavorful! In the rare occasion we have any left over, it reheats great. I love to serve with some whipped cream and a whole strawberry. I have been meaning to try this recipe with blueberries becaus I think you could substitute many fruits for then strawberries in different seasons. Highly recommend!

Love this recipe. Thinking of using pears or mangoes next.
On second day it was still delicious, ( I made two) but not crispy anymore. Still tasted great cold or warmed and served with whipped cream.. As Margaret A mentioned, I also ordered the Flori de Sicilia from Amazon. Had to add 20 mins to the specified baking time before the cake was completely baked but well worth the wait.

This was such a hit at the dinner party I was at Saturday night. I used Pamela's baking and pancake mix gluten free flour. The strawberries went inside the cake not on top like yours. It was moist and had a strawberry mixture inside
and the most wonderful flavor. I used the combo of vanilla and lemon extract
Thank you so much.

I made this with gluten free flour and it was yummy. I substituted with lemon extract for the Fiori de Sicilia and just used brown sugar on top. New favorite!!

Yes,I did prepare and bake it yesterday with the strawberries picked from the field here in south Miami. It is a very simple homey recipe ..it turned out exactly as the picture shows and tasted equally as well. I appreciate the variety of recipes and enjoy sharing ideas.Thanks.

I finally have a recipe with fresh strawberries IN it and I loved it. It came out in taste and texture just like a slice of angel food cake with strawberries spooned on it.
so, my adjustments.. I used 1/2 cake flour and 1/2 all purpose . The "special "fiori de Sicilia" ? Save the money and do what Many others do which is just (extracts) vanilla with a touch of orange and lemon if ya got it. I use an extract from Foodie Flavours ( an on line place) that's called Violet extract and all I used is one drop.
So for instance for the fiori flavor you'd use a tsp vanilla, few drops orange and 1 drop violet or a couple drops lemon extract which for this recipe I actually used an 1/8 tsp of it anyways.
The combo of those flavors I've been told is ":just like a dreamsicle" whatever that is.
And last the fancy sugar to sprinkle on top is easily copied by mixing plain white sugar with light brown sugar. The white sugar makes it so you can actually sprinkle the brown sugar and honestly tastes like the raw sugar. Brown sugar is Not raw sugar, it's white sugar with molasses.
Downside of this recipe? I've been complaining about 4 stubborn pounds and now This? I literally ate all but One slice for my hubby! It was so light and fresh that I Passed on dinner for it, which won't cover the calories but sometimes ya just have to be a kid.
