  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels (coarsely)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/3 cups boiling water
  • 6 ounces strawberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 1/3 cups ice cold water
  • 1/2 cup Smucker’s Natural Strawberry Fruit Spread
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces frozen whipped topping (thawed)
  • 1 1/2 cups strawberries (sliced)

    Directions

    1. HEAT oven to 350°F. Microwave butter in medium microwave-safe bowl on HIGH 1 minute or just until melted. Stir in pretzels and sugar until evenly moistened. Press into 13 x 9-inch baking dish to form a crust. Bake 8 minutes. Cool completely on wire rack.
    2. POUR boiling water over gelatin in medium bowl. Stir 2 minutes or until dissolved. Stir in fruit spread until melted. Stir in cold water. Chill 30 minutes or until partially thickened.
    3. Meanwhile, BEAT cream cheese and powdered sugar in medium bowl with mixer on high speed until smooth. Blend in whipped topping. Spread over crust. Chill.
    4. STIR strawberries into gelatin mixture. Pour over chilled cream cheese layer. Chill until firm.

    It is easy to make, good to do a few hours before to make sure it is set but it is a great family dessert, we made it for a Norweign food night and everyone loved it!
