- 1/4 cup hot water
- 2 Tbsp. butter (/extra virgin olive oil)
- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 white onion (1 is pureed or finely grated, and 1 is cut into thick wedges)
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder (optional)
- 3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 4 Roma tomatoes (ripe, sliced in half lengthwise, any tomato variety you like is perfectly fine to use)
- 2 pinches sumac (to top each plate of food)
- 1 white onion (cut into wedges)
