- 1/2 cup sugar (plus 3 tablespoons)
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger (ground dried)
- 1 tsp. sea salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground cardamom
- 1 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 tsp. grated lemon zest (preferably unsprayed)
- 3/4 tsp. vanilla bean paste (or extract)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (plus 3/4 cup, melted)
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/2 cup candied ginger (chopped)
- 1/2 cup candied citrus peel (diced)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (or more, if necessary)
