- 1/2 cup spiced rum (dark)
- 1/2 small yellow onion (roughly chopped)
- 1 hot pepper (banana, scotch bonnet or habanero)
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (loosely packed)
- 2 Tbsp. ketchup (or tomato paste)
- 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. canela
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. all-spice
- 1/4 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne (optional)
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
