An easy recipe that brings forth the flavor profile you expect from an Italian American standard. I modified the recipe, as I had some sausage and left over meatballs. I broke the protein down into bite size pieces and added it to the sauce. Instead of a pie plate I used a large cast iron skillet. The end result was very good. Remember to let it rest so it sets up. Room temperature works just as well as hot. Put a baking sheet on a lower rack in case it bubbles over.
