Tuna is a great seafood for marinating. A 30 minute soak infuses this fish with a raft of salty-sour-sweet flavours. A few minutes on the grill seals the deal. Rich in Omega-3, high in protein, this recipe is sure to keep your brain and your body going

Ingredients

  • 2 tuna steaks (approx 130g a piece)
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 lime (juiced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 clove garlic (finely minced)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (minced or grated)
  • 200 grams broccoli (tender stem)

    Directions

    1. In a bowl, add the soy sauce, lime juice, garlic, ginger and give it a good stir.
    2. Keep 2 tablespoons worth of marinade to the side and use the remaining amount to coat the tuna. Keep the tuna marinating at room temperature for 30 minutes.
    3. When the fish is ready to be cooked, remove and pat down with a dry paper towel. Turn on your grill pan over a high heat, lightly brush the pan with the coconut oil. Grill the fish 3 to 5 minutes on both sides for medium rare or 6 to 8 minutes for medium well.
    4. Steam or boil the broccoli until tender, drain and toss it in with the marinade kept aside. Serve hot with the tuna over the broccoli.
