I used 4x the bacon and I set it aside and used a little bit of the grease and no oil. I added the bacon back in at the end and I cooked the onions seperately. It came out delicious!

Love, love love it......will have to make again....followed the recipe, but need to cut back on the oil......my husband absolutely loved it
