- 1 minced beef (kilo, 2 lbs ground/)
- 1 large carrot (grated)
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 5 Tbsp. chutney (up to 6 tbsp fruit, or apricot jam/preserve, or to taste)
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp ground Pepper or to taste (or to taste)
- 1 egg (lightly beaten)
- 3/4 cup raisins (or sultanas)
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. ground turmeric
- 6 bay leaves
- 1/2 cup flaked almonds (optional but highly recommended)

My guests all had seconds and insisted on getting the recipe before they left. If making it for adults only I would spice it up a bit more. My gran and mother (I was born in South Africa), used to add buttermilk to the egg mixture. Some recipes list 50/50 beef and pork mince.
