Vibrant, sour cherries play off of the bitterness of dark chocolate in this luxurious, bite-sized dessert, which employs humble white bread as its foundation. Showy and texturally intriguing thanks to a finishing flourish of caramelized sugar, the petite tatins are ready in under 10 minutes, making them an ideal finale to serve to guests. What's more, with just six ingredients, you may even be able to make them from what's on hand.

  • 70 grams white bread (sliced)
  • 20 grams granulated sugar
  • 20 grams butter
  • 20 grams dark chocolate (shaved)
  • 10 sour cherries (in syrup)

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 200C.
    2. Distribute the butter and the sugar in the ten 4 centimeter molds of a non-stick mini tart pan and bake until the butter has melted and the sugar has caramelized.
    3. Press the bread slices with a rolling pin and cut out ten 5 centimeter disks. Place the disks in the tart pan on top of the butter and the sugar and bake for approximately 8 minutes or until golden.
