- 1/2 cup macaroni pasta
- 2 cups milk (any kind, but the higher the fat percentage, the thicker the sauce, so you can adjust according to your preference)
- 1/2 cup 2% Greek yogurt
- 6 oz. Gruyere cheese (grated smoked, roughly 2 cups loosely packed if you grate the cheese yourself, smoked cheddar or smoked gouda would work well too)
- 1/2 tsp. ground mustard
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp. chili powder
- freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
- 2/3 cup green peas (petite or baby)
- 1 cup smoked salmon (skin removed and broken into chunks, read the package instructions to see if you need to debone the salmon)
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- butter (extra, for greasing)
