- sausage
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 3 cups cooked brown rice (using this soaking method)
- 2/3 cup dried minced onion (or 2 medium onions, chopped finely, divided)
- 1 tsp. dried minced garlic (or 4 cloves crushed garlic, divided)
- 1/4 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. ground fennel (omit if using sausage)
- 1 tsp. ground thyme (divided)
- 1/8 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. salt (divided, I recommend Real Salt)
- 1 cup tomato sauce (also on Amazon)
- 6 oz. tomato paste (also on Amazon)
- 18 oz. diced tomatoes with juice (mine are really, really, thick also on Amazon)
- 1 tsp. molasses
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
