This was an awesome recipe. My husband got a reduced price on a bone in ham (cooked) and we decided to make split pea soup. This was an excellent recipe and we did add a couple of small red potatoes as suggested in a review. After cooking for 9 hours, we removed the bone, added more ham to the soup and cooked for an additional 20 min. We will make this again, possibly with ham hocks and adding additional ham.

My family absolutely loves this soup!! Every time we have ham now they ask for this soup!!!

Great, soup. I added 1 canned chipotle pepper with some sauce. Yum. Ham hocks make it smoky, but not too much. Actually used 8 cups of chicken broth and cooked on low for 8 hours and it was thick enough and I used my immersion blender. This made the house smell so good when we walked in. Will make again for sure. It’s a no brainer!

Turned out good. I used dried thyme and parsley, and I cut back on the amount of each when I use the dry by almost half.

Thick and delicious! I did mine on low for 9 hours. I would do it again, plenty of leftovers for later in the week!
