The kiddos said this was okay, but they asked me to not make it again. I didn’t have any French bread, but I had almost a whole loaf of white sandwich bread and two hotdog buns that were all getting stale. Rather than throwing them away, I decided to try this recipe. I cut everything into cubes, discarding most of the sandwich bread crusts. I prepared as directed and left in the fridge & went to bed. I was unexpectedly woke in the middle of the night, so I turned my crockpot on low, dumped everything in, set it for 4 hours and went back to bed. When we got up in the morning it had automatically shifted to the warm setting and it looked great!
This is definitely the easiest hot breakfast I’ve ever made! We would have preferred a crispier texture; I liked the edges. I think texture may be due to the bread I used.

This was delicious! After reading other reviews, I used approximately 1/2 cup butter and a little more brown sugar. Since it was right out of the fridge, I started on high for 1 hour and then turned down to low for about 2-2.5 hours. Was perfect and moist, but not runny. Served with fresh strawberries on top. Great reviews from everyone.

Cooking times might have been off a bit. I cooked it on high and after two hours it was still runny.
