This turned out perfectly and the family was thrilled. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth.

No flavor. Slow cooked 8.5 hours, then another 30 minutes under pressure . Meat was very tough and had no flavor. Vegetables were OK, but definitely would have been better cooked differently. Will not be cooking this again.

The beef, potatoes and carrots were perfect. However next time I won’t cook the cabbage in with the rest, and will steam separately. Being cooked for so long as this recipe calls for made it turn really brown and mushy.
I also subbed in a Sierra Nevada IPA for about half of the water called for.

Tender, no fuss and no mess. Critical for me being disabled and unable to stand in one place for more than 10 minutes. This meal, the traditional St. Patrick's day meal, is like Thanksgiving. It is the only other day of the year where I eat almost nothing the day before, basically starving myself, so I can “savor” (OK, to use my kids vernacular, I pig out!) the taste of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes.
I did add two ingredients ; a half cup of red wine and a tablespoon of liquid smoke. (I have been adding these to my beef dishes lately.)

delicious. i used chicken stock instead of plain water, for more flavor, but it was very tasty

Excellent! The meat was juicy and tasted the way I have always wanted this to taste. I will make this over and over again!

I'm usually not a fan of corned beef and cabbage, however my mother requested this meal and to my surprise I really enjoyed it and so did the rest of my family!

Excellent ! This was the first corned beef that I have ever made. The meat was super tender. Hubby loved it along with the carrots. Being a potato man, he wasn't too fussy about them. Thought they didn't taste as expected but couldn't further elaborate. Next time will cut down on the potatoes and double up on the carrots. (The package of spices included with the beef was quite small, so I added cloves, peppercorns, mustard seeds and a bay leaf in addition to the caraway seeds. Also added a can of Guinness and reduced the water accordingly). Will make again next year.

It was the very best cornbeef dinner I've ever made! Everyone raved about it! It will be the only recipe I'm going to ever use.
(I had to leave the caraway seeds out due to my roommate not being about to have them).

I only used about a cup of water, juices out of the package, and I added a splash of wine. I also added about four stalks of celery and an extra onion. I did not quarter the onions, only cut them in half. I did not add caraway seeds since the corned beef package was full of spices. Seven hours on low in the crockpot and everything came out perfect.
BTW, did Diana use some other kind of meat? All of the corned beef I have seen, has to have the fat trimmed off of it, and not have butter added to it.

I am not sure what size crock pot this woman owns but I have a standard size and it's way too small!! I ended up doing the potatoes in a pot on the stove so it was more work, but the meat was like butter. I put four carrots and two small onions in the bottom with the meat on top and stuffed cabbage around it. Added spices and water and cooked on low for ten hours. Never had better meat! The onion and cabbage were overcooked in my opinion, as they were like smush. The carrots were VERY firm....... Meat? None better.....ever!

Cooked exactly to recipe. Seemed like a poor man's dish...very little flavor. Vegetables were cooked to mush and required lots of salt, pepper and butter to eat. It was a sad thing to do to a nice piece of meat...boiling it in water. I will NOT repeat.

I always add a can or bottle of Guinness draft, makes it tastier, richer. I would cut back on the water accordingly, wouldn't change any other part of this recipe.
