This turned out really nicely! I added a few things that I know are really good in tomato-based dishes. I had some Hot Mamba Italian pepper sauce from Trader Joe's that I added on step 4 when I added the onions and mushrooms to give it a little kick. After the onions became translucent, I added some tomato paste to give the sauce a little thickness. I didn't have crushed tomatoes on hand so I used a 16 oz can of tomato sauce that I had in the pantry. The tomato paste that I added will help balance out the thickness of the tomato sauce. I let it cook for a long time before I added the cream. I also didn't have heavy cream, so I made some by adding 1/4c melted butter with 3/4c of milk. After I cooked the noodles, I saved about 1/4c of the pasta water and I added that, along with 1 Tbl of butter, to the sauce at the very end right before serving. This brings all the flavors together very nicely. I usually add balsamic vinegar when I cook the onions and mushrooms for a little added flavor. I'll do that next time. All in all, this is a wonderful recipe!
