I added a teaspoon of anise. I baked them for the minimum time and they still burned on the bottom (I also used parchment). Getting them off the cookie sheet without breaking them is a trick, even after waiting a minute or two. They’re soft, not crisp like shortbread is. Overall, I’m not overly impressed, but my hope is that they’ll still fill the Christmas cookie void.
