Excellent recipe. Subbed ketchup because I didn’t have tomato paste. Added an extra tablespoon of flour and the whole can of broth (1 3/4 c) and cooked until thickened. We like a lot of potatoes, so I doubled the recipe for the topping. It ended up being just shy of my whole 5 lb bag, so I just threw the rest in. It was a very thick layer, but it was perfect for our family. The only change I would suggest is adding more salt to the potatoes and maybe a little more to the meat mixture, too.

Loved this Shepherd’s Pie recipe....one of the best I’ve made....thanks for the great version of it!

Needs more potatoes. I didn’t have enough for a 9x13 dish or I needed bigger potatoes ;-)
I used rib eye cooked in the crock pot. It was delicious!!

My husband and sons loved it! I used ground turkey and low sodium chicken broth and it turned out really good.

I make this once a month. sometimes in a pie crust. Sometimes the veggies are fresh and sometimes a frozen mixed bag. It always turns out good. I use beef broth because it’s what I have in the fridge.

My family enjoyed it. I made the recipe exactly as written and it was so tasty with minimal effort. The results were definitely moister than the picture, but I served it with buttered egg noodles so the sauciness worked for us. Will make again.

This turned out really good!! I used boxed mashed potatoes and frozen mixed veggies to save time. Used a combo of the 2 shepherds pie recipes I rated. Didnt have tomato paste so used ketchup instead. Still turned out awesome!!

Turned out amazing! I love shepherd’s pie and this was as good as any I’ve had at great restaurants and pubs where I’ve tried it. It was more labor intensive then most of what I cook, but totally worth the effort. It was def a hit with the fam (hubby ate 3 servings). I did leave out the cheddar cheese and bumped up the amount of peas. Can’t wait to see how it reheats with the leftovers tomorrow

Awesome. Made enough for 12 people and froze a bunch which we have since demolished. Still turned out great when heated in the oven from frozen. Making a new batch this weekend

Very yummy - just had to add a little extra beef seasoning but it is my husband's favourite shepherd's pie recipe that I've ever made.

Making it now. Needs almost double the potatoes called for in order to have a nice thick layer of potatoes.

The seasoned meat was terrific! I was in a hurry, so I uses applewood bacon instant mashed potatoes, and the pie was delicious!

Very nice and easy to make recipe. The only thing I would change would be to add a potato or two..just because I love mashed potatoes.

Great base recipe with some alterations for our taste. Sautéed garlic along with tomato paste with meat pushed to sides until fragrant then added flour and combined. Doubled the quantity of herbs and added 1/4 cup of HP Sauce. Used 1.5 cups frozen peas and carrots. Sprinkled grated Parmesan over mixture prior to topping with mashed potatoes and freshly grated white sharp cheddar cheese. Hubby absolutely loved it once adding more HP to his serving, which is the way he likes it. This is a keeper!
