- 17 1/2 tomatoes (very ripe, peeled and diced in pieces 1/2 to 1 inch)
- 1 1/2 cans tomato sauce (I use Muir Glen organic tomato sauce)
- 1 1/2 cans diced tomatoes (I use Muir Glen fire-roasted diced tomatoes)
- 3 Tbsp. dried basil
- 3 Tbsp. dried oregano
- 2 Tbsp. fennel seed (ground)
- 3 Tbsp. minced garlic (or garlic puree)
- 5 bay leaves (dried)
- 5 sausage (links turkey Italian)
- hots (mild or hot, but i prefer)
- 1 sausage (for browning)
- 1/4 cup olive oil (plus 1-2 T for browning sausage)
- 1/4 cup fresh oregano (or less chopped)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil (or less chopped)
