Salted Hazelnuts

Description
Salty, spiced nuts are always appreciated at cocktail hour--or as a tasty snack anytime of day. Here, blanched hazelnuts are tossed with olive oil, rosemary, salt, and black pepper, with a kick of spicy heat provided by dried chile powder (or cayenne, which would also work) before being roasted. You'll want to toss them once or twice during cooking, and let them cool slightly before serving and completely before storing.

- Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius.
- In a bowl, combine the oil with the rosemary, and a pinch each of chile pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Coat the hazelnuts with the spice mixture and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Roast the nuts for approximately 15 minutes, stirring them halfway through the roasting process.
- Remove the hazelnuts from the oven. Allow the hazelnuts to cool, place them in a bowl, and serve.
