I really like this recipe. The apples were really tasty, and I thought the chicken was good but could have been more flavorful. Not sure if I should have been basting it? Will do some research and make it again.

I used with Granny Smiths and the tartness with the chicken was so delicious! I used a 5.5 lb chicken. Slipped some pats of butter under the skin on the legs and breasts, tossed a few extra sprigs inside the cavity. Cooked breast side down at 350 for 30 minutes, flipped and then cooked for 90 additional minutes, let rest for 10 and then carved. Came out so very flavorful and juicy! 10/10!!

Really good. Grape seed oil helped keep the balsamic on and works well because it has a high smoke point. Made the skin very delicious. Very simple and quick. Would make again.

Somehow I got to age 57 without ever roasting a chicken, and I was a little intimidated at the prospect. This was super-easy, though—and super-delicious. It didn’t dry out and tasted much better than the supermarket rotisserie chickens. The apples were a little oily for my family’s taste, so next time I’ll bake them with some rosemary in a separate dish. But there will definitely be a next time!

It smells delicious. It is delicious and easy. A nice change from my usual roasted chicken. Will make again.
