  • 1/2 cup plain dry bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 jar sauce (RAGÚ® Roasted Garlic Parmesan)
  • 1 1/4 cups beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice (optional)

    Directions

    1. unchecked 1. Combine ground beef, egg and bread crumbs in large bowl; shape into 20 (1-1/2-inch) meatballs.
    2. unchecked 2. Brown meatballs in 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
    3. unchecked 3. Meanwhile, combine sauce, broth, Worcestershire sauce and allspice in medium bowl; stir into skillet. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until meatballs are done and sauce is slightly thickened. Serve, if desired, over hot cooked noodles or rice.

    I used less allspice in the meatballs than it asked for. I feel like they could have used something else in them. As for the sauce, I didn’t have the ragu sauce, so I made my own. Cream, better than bouillon beef, garlic, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and grated Parmesan. The sauce tasted exactly like the Swedish meatballs at IKEA. The meatballs, not so much. I may tweak them next time. I also served over egg noodles. Turned out great!

    This is a great and easy recipe. I did tweak it using what I had: chicken broth and no allspice. It was really good! I would like to try it with original recipe too next time.
