- 2 purple onion (sliced into very thin rings)
- olives (Couple of, optional)
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup oil
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 3 cloves garlic (optional, but delicious)
- 1 handful fresh basil (keep some aside to decorate just before serving)
