- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 piece ginger (grated)
- 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp. fennel seeds
- 1 tsp. cumin (ground)
- 1 tsp. coriander (ground)
- 1 tsp. tumeric (ground)
- 1/2 tsp. chilli powder
- 2 chilli (x fresh, seeds removed, finely chopped, these are optional)

- 1/2 cup red lentils (dried)

- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
