Batter wasn’t “stiff” and “dumplings” turned out to be like over cooked scrambled eggs that have been boiled. I’d liken it to vomit. is there a step missing in this recipe? Or ingredients missing?

This turned out just plain awful! The dumplings completely fell apart, and I was left with a cheesy gruel. I'm so disappointed!

Followed directions to a T, "dumplings" never formed. Each spoonful became boiled mush that formed a continent at the surface of the water. Not thrilled.
