This recipe turned out to be a huge success with my family. I slightly modified the recipe by adding two tablespoons of banana peppers, which I finely chopped along with the onions in a food processor, This gave the beans a little extra zing. I served it with melted cheese stirred in. My wife, who is Cuban, absolutely loved it!
