- chuck roast (or Sirloin Tip Roast, or whatever you have or can find. I used a 3 1/4 pound roast for this recipe, but it would be fine to use anywhere from a 3 pound - 4 pound roast.)
- 3 carrots

- 3 potatoes
- 2 onions (medium, quartered)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup dry red wine
- 5 sage leaves (fresh)
- 4 parsley sprigs (fresh)
- 3 rosemary sprigs (fresh)
- 2 tsp. cornstarch (optional)
